Holidays in Hollywood!

The holidays are officially here. It seems that people tend to skip Thanksgiving; the Christmas lights go right up after Halloween. Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, officially kicks off the holiday shopping season. While the deals this year weren’t that great, bargain-hunters still shopped for GPS navigators and Nikon Coolpix cameras; they were down to $79. Those items were selling like hot cakes. You may recall two years ago when throngs of rampaging shoppers broke down the doors at a Walmart store on Long Island, N.Y., and trampled to death an employee on Black Friday. This year a woman in a Target in Buffalo, N.Y. was trampled on and rushed to the hospital. Despite a weakened economy, consumers are still buying and charging on their credit cards creating more debt for themselves. We realize that standing outside in the cold for hours can turn the most polite-best-intentioned individual into a Black Friday savage, there is absolutely no excuse for this inhuman, unacceptable behavior.
It seems that consumers are buying plenty of Wii games, including “Call of Duty: Black Ops” and the “Glee” version of Karaoke Revolution. The songs only include songs from the first season of the Fox hit. The game lets singers perform to video montages and alongside the cast of "Glee.” The holidays are just around the corner and your to-buy list is more packed than Santa’s sleigh. There are basically two types of people during the holiday season. The organized ones that are all done and wrapped can take advantage of this holiday season by listening to just a few holiday CDs and singing along. They are the ones that can enjoy since they feel accomplished, so they can kick off their shoes and relax. Then you have the other type, the last-minute shoppers that are suffering from anxiety and stress. You’ll know who they are; they are the ones that drive aggressively. The ones that are mad at the world. The ones that take out their frustrations on a poor innocent victim. The ones that are grumpy.

Whether you are the organized or the last-minute shopper, you really need to turn up the music in this holiday season. Get this, about two years ago, a study found that athletes who wear red were most likely to win. So if you want to feel good, wear something red.

While the gloomy economy has left many of us scratching our heads and tightening our belts, and spending less this holiday season. For others you would think they’re giving things away at the stores and malls. They are packed and people continue to spend. Consumers continue to buy, whether they’re in denial or just racking up the credit cards. This holiday season people are turning to crafts and homemade bake goods, which are the simplest and ultimate thriftiest Christmas gifts to offer family and friends. The more elaborate the gift the more expensive. For the woman who has everything, she would love the new Valentino petal-appliquéd evening bag from Valentino. The designer’s signature is red; however, it comes in black, blush and rose.

Speaking of the woman who has everything, Barbara Walters will air her annual list of the year’s most fascinating people on December 9 on ABC. The list includes, believe it or not, the cast of “Jersey Shore”, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Palin, princess-to-be Kate Middleton, LeBron James, “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez, Betty White and Justin Bieber. You’ll have to tune in that night to see her final pick.

Stardazzle!

Buddy Valastro

The holidays are upon us, which means that most of us will indulge in glorious desserts. The majority of people just love dessert. Why? Because dessert tastes good and it makes people smile.
There was a lot of smiling going on November 23, when we bumped into Buddy Valastro of TLC’s “Cake Boss.” Buddy is out promoting his book titled “Cake Boss: Stories and Recipes from Mia Famiglia.” Since Buddy is very family-oriented we decided to bring along our famiglia, which I feel really touched him. In a very informal meet-and-greet we asked Buddy one simple question:
Q: “Any plans on getting into film? Movies?”
A: “Right now, TV, one thing at a time, but I appreciate it, we’ll see.”
Buddy who is extremely friendly, and most of all humble, was pressed for time, since he had to do a show later that day. Where does he find the time? He’s currently on a book and show tour where he goes around the country showing audiences some of his trade secrets. He is also the proprietor of the infamous “Carlos Bakery” of Hoboken, N.J.
If you love watching the “Cake Boss” you will absolutely love the book. If you never watched the show, I guarantee you will start watching. You’ll learn how Buddy rose to bakery royalty. The book is very entertaining, and full of mouth-watering desserts. The recipes include, “Cream Puffs,” “Lobster Tails,” “Pumpkin Pie” and our favorite “St. Joseph’s Zeppelin.” Buddy’s memoir is to be admired because he loves two things: family and kids.
While some critics feel that the family should have kept Buddy in school, it’s not fair to judge, especially when no one really knows the circumstances. The recipes alone are worth the price of the book. You’ll even see some of the beautiful cake creations he has made. You would need just a book in itself to fill the pages of some of his beautiful masterpieces. If you are waiting to read something about his brother-in-law “Remigio” Remy Gonzalez, forget it. There is absolutely no mention of the disgraced Remy or family heartbreak. Believe me, it was heartbreaking to the family, so they even photoshopped him out of family pictures. Remy Gonzalez still remains in jail on charges of sexually assaulting a minor.
Buddy had brought along his wife, Lisa, who was sitting down with her kids, Sophia and Marco, in a corner of the room. Lisa is expecting their fourth child.
We asked Lisa, “Where is the other little one (referring to Buddy Jr)?” “Oh, he’s with Grandma, she responded.”
All in all, the book is a reflection of Buddy’s family life and humble beginnings, and with all his proclaimed fame, he’s just as sweet as pie. With all his success on TV, it would be great to see Buddy on the big screen some day. I’m quite sure it would be a great hit.

Making of Stars!

So many aspiring singers waste so much money and time in voice lessons. Case in point, some will never make it and the journey is long simply because they just aren’t good enough. Then you have the artists that just need a break. Clearly, the music business has transformed dramatically from decades ago. The record labels do not go out on a limb with tour support, so artists have to promote themselves on Facebook, Twitter and other networking sites. The days of marketing, tour support are gone; however, talent still trumps it all. Now, more than ever you need to do something extraordinary to get people’s attention, and that’s exactly what recording artist Lucas Prata is doing. Canyon News brings you the latest update in an exclusive interview with the dance mastermind behind the hit single “Gimme the Beat.”

Q: Tell us about your latest single, “Gimme The Beat.”

A: "This song was recorded about eight months ago in NYC. I co-wrote it with Dan Metreyeon and the producer 'Q'. It’s a feel good song about scoping out a girl in the club and letting her know how I feel while I tell the DJ to keep pumping the music."

Q: Are you planning on going on tour anytime soon?

A: "I plan on promoting this song in different cities and hopefully doing shows at the same time. There is a Dance tour being talked about that I’m waiting on specifics. Then I can really talk about it."

Q: Tell us about the reality show, “My Big Friggin Wedding.”

A: "This is another reality show about five couples from New York and New Jersey planning out their weddings while dealing with the ups and downs of life. My connection to the show is that I performed on an episode with one of the couples. You’ll have to wait and see what happens."

Q: Back in 2006, you had mentioned about your own reality show titled, "Lucas Prata...The making of a Pop star," did it ever come to fruition?

A: "The show aired on a college network with over 7 million viewers. It did okay. Nothing to write home about. I’m hoping that I can make another one on a major network."

Q: Was "My Super Sweet Sixteen," your first big break?

A: "I wouldn’t call it my first but it without a doubt was a very big part in breaking my music and exposing me to millions of people. The show aired over 600 times and in countries I never even heard of. It took me all over the world doing sweet sixteen’s as well. Yes, I’d call it a Huge break!"

Q: We've seen pictures of you with Snooki, from the "Jersey Shore," and Teresa Guidice from "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," any other celebrities you are close to?

A: "I don’t know about close to. I know many of them in my travels and being invited to many events where I would always run into them. I’m very close to Camille Grammer (Beverly Hills Housewives) who was married to Kelsey Grammer. I have been to their home in LA and they have visited me here in New York as well."

Q: If you had one thing to say to your fans, what would that be?

A: "I would say thank you for always supporting my music throughout the years. I know that without my fans I wouldn’t be anything in this music world. They are who make me shine. That’s why I love to perform for them so much. Also I‘d tell them that I‘m making a huge comeback with 'Gimme The Beat.' So look out!"

Q: With all your great success, what is next for you, Lucas Prata?

A: "There’s a lot of different projects I’m working on. I have always liked working with other artists and developing them. My label is Yo Pal Ent. and I’m always looking for new talent. I’m also managing artists as well. I’m also very involved in song writing for many artists out there. So look out for these new projects coming very soon."

Winners, Losers of TV and more!

With a struggling economy still very much anemic, it’s no wonder so many people are staying home watching TV. We are basically in the third week of the fall season, so it’s a little hard to predict which shows will make it. While some shows will be canned others are on life-support. We all know it’s a numbers game, in this sophisticated, crowded entertainment environment. Let’s take a look at some of the winners in this fall season.

“Blue Bloods” is a winner on Fridays as one of the most watched shows of this season. Tom used to sell ties before he made it big. Well, he's come a long way from retail.

Growing strong is “Glee". The show was launched about a year and a half ago, following “American Idol.” The show has always done very well, but it soared when Britney Spears appeared a couple of weeks ago. “Glee” is one of the network's biggest shows, well at least until “Idol” returns back in January. We will have to wait and see if “Idol” will survive without Simon; the network has pulled its biggest gun by bringing Jennifer Lopez on board.

Another winner is the show “Raising Hope,” and while it’s not the top-comedy show of the season, it remains steady. It’s a definite early winner. On CBS, we have “Hawaii-Five-O," the remake of the hit '70s show that hasn’t quite been the hit that the execs had hoped for. The show is missing the panache of Detective Steve McGarrett, played by debonair actor Jack Lord in his heyday. “Book’ em Danno,” is still doing well though.

Alright, let’s get to the losers: no one watched the show “Lone Star,” so without great numbers the show is gone. Another goner, is “My Generation” on ABC. Now you are seeing repeats of “Grey’s Anatomy.” While NBC hasn’t pulled the plug on “Outlaw” yet, the production has been halted due to anemic ratings. It sure doesn’t look like the show “The Whole Truth” will survive till May. The ratings are really awful.

One show that continues to be steady with ratings is “Dancing With The Stars” on ABC. Sorry MTV fans of “Jersey Shore,” Mike “The Situation” was booted off on October 12. His two left feet were horrific in the ballroom, he just didn’t get the steps.

Another show that is a hit, however on cable, is TLC’s “Cake Boss.” Business is doing so well at Carlo's Bakery in Hoboken, N.J., that Buddy Valastro, 33, is expanding his empire. He just purchased a 30,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Jersey City, N.J. that he will use as a production facility, including studio and eventually classes will be held there. A second show will be debuting soon, which is tentatively titled: “Next Great Baker," and a book is due next month “Cake Boss: Stories and Recipes from Mia Famiglia.”

Speaking of books, we bumped into Lauren Conrad who currently is on a book tour with her latest book on the L.A. series titled “Sugar and Spice.” The 24-year-old reality star turned designer began her book tour in New York on October 5, and was at the Laguna Beach Books in Laguna Beach, Calif. on October 16. Her book tour will end on October 23, in Cary, N.C. She is gorgeous on TV and even more beautiful in person, as her personality shines through. In a very quick informal meet and greet, we asked Lauren:

Q: ”Did you make your own dress?”

A: “No, I didn’t, I picked it out though.”

Q: Who is the designer?

A: “I don’t even know,” she said.

This is Lauren Conrad’s third book. Conrad gained fame on the MTV show “The Hills.” She will be on MTV again in an untitled show based on her fashion career. She’s also gracing the cover of November’s Teen Vogue magazine.

Too Young to Die!

Some of the greatest musicians of all time, became rich and famous, experimented with drugs and died too young. Is it a coincidence that five great musicians died at the age of 27? For whatever reasons, it seems that rock stars can’t get high on their own success. They left behind a legacy of songs that will relish with every generation. Here are the Club 27 musicians.

Jimi Hendrix was one of the greatest electric guitarist of all times. Hendrix headlined the world famous Woodstock in 1969. A great deal has been written about the mysterious death of Jimi Hendrix who died on September 8, 1970 in London. While the details are fuzzy, Hendrix died by taking an overdose of Vesperax sleeping pills and a mixture of alcohol.

Janis Joplin, who also headlined Woodstock, rose to fame as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Co., and then later she ventured out as a solo artist. She died of a drug overdose on October 4, 1970. Some of her greatest hits were “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,” “Cry Baby” and “Mercedes Benz.”

Jim Morrison was the lead singer of The Doors. In addition to being the lead singer, he added to his resume, songwriter, poet, writer and filmmaker. He wrote four books and two movies. Another mysterious death until this day, Morrison overdosed on heroin thinking it was cocaine. His success came to a halt on July 3, 1971.

Kurt Cobain took his own life on April 5, 1994. Cobain was known for the success of the band Nirvana. The band has sold over 25 million records in the U.S. and over 50 million worldwide. Cobain’s life was full of ups and downs. His long addiction to drugs, especially heroin, led to his demise.

Brian Jones founder/guitarist of the Rolling Stones is also in Club 27. His death was a mystery when he died on July 3, 1969. He drowned in a swimming pool.

While those talented rock stars belonged in Club 27, there was the well-known bassist for the band Sex Pistols who took his life at the tender age of 21. Sid Vicious made headlines back in 1978, when Nancy Spungen was found dead by Vicious in his hotel room in Manhattan. Spungen was stabbed to death with a knife that was purchased by Sid. Conflicting accounts given by Vicious led to his arrest for the murder. After he posted bail, Vicious attempted suicide and was later placed in Bellevue Hospital. After another incident that landed him in Riker’s Island for 55 days, he celebrated his release at a small party thrown by family and friends. It was at that party that Sid Vicious subsequently overdosed and died on February 2, 1979. He left behind a suicide note, which was found days later after he was cremated. In the note he said he wanted to be buried with Nancy Spungen.

While Tyler Clementi was not a rock star, he made headlines nationwide, even worldwide. The suicide of the 18-year-old Rutgers University student, who jumped off the George Washington Bridge in New York, touched many hearts. His roommate allegedly streamed his gay tryst online using a webcam. The cruel act was hurtful and inexcusable. Celebrities such as talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres, Paula Abdul, Ciara, Nicki Minaj and Margaret Cho voiced their outrage condemning teen bullying. Clementi died on September 22 after witnesses saw him jump to his death. Two fellow students, 18-year-olds Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei, were charged with two counts of invasion of privacy. Tyler Clementi was a talented violinist who typed to millions on Facebook, “Jumping off the gw bridge sorry.” Doesn’t anyone monitor Facebook or Twitter, and shouldn’t someone be looking into how to stop public suicides on the George Washington Bridge?  According to published reports, Facebook movie “The Social Network” made $23 million at the boxoffice its opening weekend.

The World of Books!

In 1982, the American Library Association began an annual event Banned Books Week. It’s a week-long event, held during the last week of September (September 25 through October 2) that raises awareness of freedom of speech through celebrating challenged books and especially the value of free expression. The list of books banned by American schools and libraries includes many of the classics such as "Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, “The Grapes of Wrath” by John Steinbeck, “The Scarlet Letter” by Nathaniel Hawthorne and the "Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling. J.K. Rowling's series included witchcraft, sorcery and rebellion against authority. We all have a right to express our intellectual freedom through our creative works, even if the information is unpopular or unorthodox; thus, providing the foundation for Banned Books Week. One of the primary functions of Banned Books Week is to stress the importance of ensuring the availability of unpopular viewpoints for all who wish to read and access them.

According to news service reports, Oprah Winfrey has forgiven Jonathan Franzen. It was nine years ago that Oprah picked Franzen’s book “The Corrections” for her book club. The author canceled his appearance on her show after he showed ambivalence after her endorsement, but all is forgiven and Winfrey has chosen his new novel, “Freedom”. The book “Freedom” was released back in August and was canonized by critics before publication and has been a best-seller even without Oprah’s approval, which is without a doubt unbelievable since everyone knows that if you go on Oprah, your book is almost guaranteed to be number one.

Speaking of best-selling authors, Nicolas Sparks is an internationally best-selling novelist of 16 books. Six books so far have been adapted to film, including “Message in a Bottle,” “A Walk to Remember,” “The Notebook,” “Nights in Rodanthe,” “Dear John” and “The Last Song,” released on March 31. Two other books are in the process of being made into film adaptation, “True Believer,” is scheduled for release in 2011, and “The Luck One,” is expected to be released in 2012, starring Zac Efron. We had the pleasure of meeting this amazing novelist Nicolas Sparks on September 20. Sparks is currently on a book tour with his latest novel “Safe Haven.” We spoke to Nicolas Sparks, and he answered a few questions for his fans:

Q: What is your favorite Author?

A: "Steven King."

Q: How do you write women so well?

A: "I received inspiration from my mother and sister; I also get along better with women than with men."

Q: Where do you find your characters?

A: "Mostly from people I meet and know."

Q: Of all the novels you have written, what is your favorite?

A: “Three Weeks With My Brother.”

Nicolas Sparks spoke of his marriage of 21 years to the same woman and his five children ranging from ages 9 through 19. His love for dogs, all 12 of them, in his home in North Carolina. His charming, witty and open personality shines not only on paper but in his caring attitude toward his fans. He spoke of his latest novel “Safe Haven,” which is somewhat structured and has an element of danger. “Safe Haven” will be adapted into a film, snapped up by Relativity Media. Sparks's successful writing career has made him one of the most-respected novelists of the century.

Joining the world of books, The Kardashian sisters are writing a book on relationships. We also have, Rihanna, and “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro planning on releasing books.

Awards and Fashion!

The much-anticipated MTV Video Music Awards show on September 12, was somewhat disappointing. The show was hosted by Livingston, N.J. native Chelsea Handler, who had the audience in stitches. The music was entertaining, but needed a bit more pizazz. We were all waiting for the shocker of the evening, like the Brittany and Madonna kiss, or just something else spontaneous. It seems that the only duet that came to fruition was Eminem with Rihanna. The anticipated duet with Justin Beiber and Ludacris didn’t happen so he performed a medley of “U Smile,” “Baby” and “Somebody to Love.” Usher performed his new hit “OMG.” It would have been nice to see a performance with Pitbull. How many more times are we going to hear about Kanye West and Taylor Swift? It’s time to bury the hatchet.

All eyes were on Lady Gaga who snagged a record of eight moonmen trophies. Lady Gaga stole the show with her outrageous outfits including the infamous meat dress. It seems that her dress was made from cuts of raw meat, including her shoes and bag. She even wore, what seemed to be a piece of flank steak on top of her head. Meanwhile, Beyoncé, who was also nominated for many awards including “Best Video of the Year,” had the sense to skip the VMA’s and instead made her own fashion statement by modeling in NYC during Fashion Week. After his triumphant performance rap legend Eminem departed to LAX to jet back to New York to headline with Jay-Z at Yankee Stadium. The new Yankee Stadium, was host to the largest hip-hop show audience on September 13, an estimated 100,000 fans attended. The twin event was scheduled for September 14. Some of the most famous guests included Dr. Dre, D12 and 50 Cent.

Running to Fashion Week in New York from L.A. was Kanye West, who was spotted at the Marc Jacobs women’s store during the boutique’s "Fashion Night Out” festivities with former "Pussycat Doll" Melody Thornton, according to reports. It’s also reported that West, 33, and Miss Thornton, 25, are an item, dating for about two weeks.

The fashion industry loves a comeback almost as much as Hollywood does, and the fall 2010 runways heralded the return of the camel coat, ranging from Michael Kors to Oscar de la Renta. Now, the royal purple is officially back by Marc Jacobs in his New York Fashion Week Spring 2011 collection. The big tote bags by Marc Jacobs are also a hot item valued at under $200. Many college students are sporting them with books inside. Another definite must-have is the tote by Longchamps. Designer Carolina Herrera on the other hand produced more floral prints in the usual glamour for a dash of Asian chic.

What a surprise!

There is nothing like the smell of a bakery in the fall. While celebrities count their calories, they still know that the best bakery around is “Helena Wirth Cakes.” If you live in Los Angeles, you have heard of this amazing bakery, where you can treat yourself to some heavenly red velvet cupcakes, or order that special wedding cake. Well the Grammy-winning group Black Eyed Peas ordered a birthday cake there, and a wedding cake was even featured on “Desperate Housewives,” according to their website.

Now on the East Coast, some people can’t get enough of Carlos Bakery, in Hoboken, N.J. The popularity of this family-run business can be seen on the TLC hit reality show “Cake Boss.” Buddy Valastro is a polarizing, accomplished master baker, talented cake decorator and star of the reality show. He has baked cakes for Oprah Winfrey, Dylan Lauren, Rachel Ray and many more celebrities. He has been featured on "Good Morning America," "The View," "The Today Show" and HBO’s hit series "The Sopranos."

Even on Labor Day the line to enter the bakery wrapped around the block. People were in line from as far away as Florida to Seattle, Wash. Is it the popularity of being on a reality show that draws crowds? Or are the pastries that decadent? A combination of both is the answer. A variety of decadent pastries fill the trays from Italian cookies to lobster tails to the infamous cannolis. Then the possibility of seeing stars, even reality stars, draws curiosity-seekers. The bakery doesn’t post prices on the pastries, at least we didn’t see them. As far as the merchandising goes, they have Carlo’s Bakery mugs, water cooler bottles, T-shirts and even DVD’s from the reality show.

Everything was flying high, until the shocker came when one of the cast members of the TLC show “Cake Boss” was charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a minor. Buddy Valastro’s brother-in-law Remy Gonzalez, 32, was taken into custody on August 18, and remains behind bars since nobody has posted his bail of $300,000. Remy is married to Buddy’s sister, Lisa, and the couple have a daughter, Isabella. According to a report in the Daily Record, a local newspaper of Morris County, N.J., an arrest affidavit filed in the case claims that Gonzalez had relations with a 14-year-old unidentified minor. According to the affidavit, he broke down and cried while confessing to the assault after being told the victim was going to be examined by a physician who would report any evidence of sexual abuse to the authorities. My source told me the minors name. Hard to believe someone is capable of doing such a despicable act.  His first court date was on September 7, where he appeared wearing the yellow prison jumpsuit with his hands cuffed and his feet shackled.

One of LA’s best kept secret is the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, about 30 miles from downtown Los Angeles. This tranquil, secluded and private piece of heaven embodies the classic California lifestyle. Dining at the Cliffside restaurant Nelson’s could be enchanting, the name was taken from Lloyd Bridges’s character Mike Nelson from the classic television series “Sea Hunt,” which was filmed at the Terranea’s location.

Beautiful day in paradise!

Go out and enjoy your day! I've noticed that there are many people on Facebook that are very sensitive. They take everything to heart! So, truth be told, life is too short to deal with people like that. I'm assuming that they are so overwhelmed with problems, that they just take it out on other people.

Folks, don't take it personal.  Those people are just so miserable, that they want to make the others around them feel the same way.

If you find a person to be annoying just block them, however, keep this in mind, people at least the smart ones, know who has blocked them. Who cares, really. It's not like you make money on how many friends you actually have, or it's a popularity contest. Trust me, it's not!

Happy 18th Birthday, Kelly! You're a true blessing!

Go Nadal!

All eyes are on the U.S. Open. I really don’t want to jinx it, but this year could be the year of Spain. They became the world champions of soccer, and we could see something spectacular if Rafael Nadal wins the U.S. Open this year, making history. No one has ever won all titles in the same calendar year. If Nadal wins on September 12, at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, it would give him three Grand Slam victories. It could possibly put an end to a shared era of dominance by Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

In 2008, Nadal became the new king of England, dethroning five-time champ Roger Federer at Wimbledon. The unforgettable game went on for almost five hours of tennis, (four hours and 48 minutes to be precise), the longest men’s final in Wimbledon history. Anyone who remembers the game felt the drama, intensity and emotional roller coaster ride. The pressure was certainly on for Nadal, who sprawled in exhilaration after realizing he had won his first Wimbledon championship.

Nadal has certainly trimmed down when we saw him practicing on “Kids Day” on August 28, in Flushing, N.Y. He seemed more focused and determined. Even though he practiced for less than an hour, he was still a man on a mission. The mission was a US-based fitness campaign focused on a "kids total fitness" message. The tennis stars included Nadal, Federer, Roddick and many more. The event was one more effort to bring awareness to childhood obesity, which was kicked off earlier this year by First Lady Michele Obama.

The JoBros and friends hit the courts. The stars came out for “Kids Day” with the great talent of the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, David Archuleta, All Star Weekend, Nick Canon, Shontelle, as well as top sports names, Tony Hawk, Kim Clijsters and Venus Williams. The event was hosted by Adrienne Bailon (Cheetah Girls.) It was a day to celebrate the ideals of humanitarianism and leadership through tennis. The JoBros are always busy. After their set, they flew, on a 22-minute plane ride, to Atlantic City to perform that same evening at the Trump Marina Hotel and Casino.

A special birthday wish goes out to my daughter and co-writer Kelly Olszuk who celebrates her birthday with Pink on September 8.

Guess who!

Neck and neck!

We just received an email, that alerted us to the interesting information that Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber are running neck to neck. They both have 245 million views each on YouTube, let's see who will hit 300 million views first?

Speaking of YouTube, if you didn't see our latest vid "Tennis and the Paparazzi" go and check it out,
since we are all friends on YouTube, check out the vid of the" U.S. Open fight on the stands." True story.

All of the culprits are now banned from attending the U.S. Open for the next two years! I'm just glad I chose to ignore the woman who told me to close my umbrella. Folks, when you go see a tennis match you go to see the sets, not be bothered by ignorant and uneducated people.

I will be back on Tuesday! Enjoy the holiday!

What's Up?

Labor Day is finally here. A time for backyard barbecues, picnics and celebrating America’s everyday heroes—the working class people. As the summer sun fades to a gentle glow, what will the summer of 2010 be remembered for? All eyes are on the U.S. Open.

I really don’t want to jinx it, but this year could be the year of Spain.

The Bob Hope Memorial Library will be formally dedicated in a ceremony on October 12, at the immigration museum on Ellis Island. The Hope family, including Bob Hope’s daughter Linda and his son Kelly Hope, along with other notable figures will gather for the formal dedication to a great entertainer and humanitarian, the late Bob Hope. A special birthday wish goes out to my daughter and co-writer Kelly Olszuk who celebrates her birthday with Pink on September 8.

Wishing everyone a Happy Labor Day Weekend!

Cristiano Ronaldo, the movie!

—“Genius does what it must, and talent does what it can.”—Bulwer-Lytton

Here is some food for thought.  We all know that when rumors start spreading, there is usually a shred of truth to them, even though celebrities, sports figures and their reps usually deny at first. Basically, that applies to all walks of life, rumors are rumors.  While some struggle with stress, hard times and unemployment, a handful of people will be floating upwards on a cloud of frivolous joy. We all know who these people are. No need to name drop.

Hollywood is running on empty. It seems that they have run out of creative ideas, all you have to do is pick up a trade paper and you’ll see what I mean. While everything is being resurrected; perhaps a film on Cristiano Ronaldo would be uplifting, easily marketable road to riches, feel good flick that would bring smiles to millions of faces.

Labor Day plans?

The collapse of retirement portfolios and the steep recession are forcing many cash-strapped adults to save money, savor family togetherness and have fun with a “staycation.” To some the word vacation brings to mind empty wallets and choruses of “are we there yet?" from bored kids. Many people these days are finding that “staycations” can be a fun, inexpensive and different alternative to high-priced, high-stress vacations. If your European vacation plans have gone the way of your 401-Not-So-Great, welcome to recession nation, discovering places that are nearby with activities that create a vacation experience, yet aren’t run-of-the-mill or overrun with out-of-towners, is the challenge. So what are your plans for Labor Day? Lots of people are planning on just staying home and doing the backyard barbecue with family members. Whatever your plans for Labor Day, the divas wish you safe in this holiday weekend. Hurricane Earl is headed to the Northeast. So preplan!

Cake Boss!

Why haven't we seen episodes of "Cake Boss?" I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but Buddy Valastro's brother-in-law, a main character in the hit show based on Carlos Bakery in Hoboken, has been arrested on charges he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager in Morris County, authorities said. He is still roting away in jail held in lieu of $300,000 bail. Remy Gonzalez, 32, was arrested on Aug.17 in the sexually assault of a 14-year-old teenager. A court date of Sept. 7 is set.

New Jersey has it all!

New Jersey has it all. In every generation a music icon is born. In my Mom’s was Sinatra, goes without saying Frankie. My generation is Bon Jovi and Springsteen, and now Jersey’s gift to my daughter Kelly is the Jonas Brothers. The Wyckoff’s own have been putting tweens and teens not surprisingly into tizzies. Disney channel’s mega-hits are to this generation what “The Mickey Mouse Club” was back then.  First the boys are handsome, adorable and very talented.  Therefore, for your own safety, I recommend that if you have two or more teens in the house, get the earplugs, they will scream from excitement. Of course, it goes without saying that the hottest ticket this summer is the Jonas Brothers in concert.

Celebrity Couples and making it!

It seems that every celebrity has that moment. The unforgettable moment, he or she realizes he or she is no longer just another actor, rock star, pop star, athlete or writer. It is the moment a stranger stops, points and says, He is a star. Many people think that stars have overnight success, forgetting the years of low-paying, bit parts in B movies they had to endure before they suddenly appeared in People magazine. Let us explore the tender, but generally inexplicable world, of celebrity romance. Of course, the most obvious factor is the lack of privacy. As you know, non-celebrity couples have prying parents, while celebrity couples have to deal with hordes of paparazzi and corybantic fans. The common couples have arguments, while the celebrity couples have the cover of Star magazine. Yes, normal people discuss their relationships with family and friends, while celebrities all issue statements confirming or denying reports. The pressure on celebrities is huge. Pressed by encircling pressure from their inner circle, fan base, and the public at large, it is no wonder they keep romance top secret. The media's latest craze with celebrity couples is the combo name.

Let's look back at the celebrity couples.  Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes is, TomKat.  Mr. & Mrs. Smith are referred to Brangelina. Renee Zellweger and Kenny Chesney, are considered the rare instance of the womans name going first, RenKen. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, are Bennifer 2, or BenJen.

Celebrities, Tennis Stars and the Paparazzi!

Well, yesterday was certainly interesting. The Divas, spent the day with Rafa Nadal, Andy Roddick and Roger Federer. You had to be there to see us hiding in the bushes to shoot some pics of Nadal while he was practicing on the tennis court. No one was allowed in. No one.

Parking in New York, especially at the US Open is not cheap, so be prepared to spend nineteen dollars. Then don't forget that yesterday was a hot, blazing day so in order to quench our thirst we bought two bottled waters for a grand total of $9.50. Hungry? Well, they ran out of chicken sandwiches by 12:30 p.m., so we settled for a roast beef flat bread for $9.50 each, That was our lunch.

After we received our CBS little packet, we then walked up to the Stadium, where we settled in our seats. Remind us to bring pillows next time, the seats are really hard! Let the show begin, of course, after the national anthem.

The Jo Bros were the opening act, followed by Demi Lovato, David Archuletta, Shontelle, and  special guest Nick Canon. All Star closed the show. In between the acts, we had Nadal and Federer entertain us.

I have to edit some videos now, so I will go more into details.

What's in a name?

Nowadays you don’t have to be a celebrity to name your child Talula Does The Hula. We all know that celebrities love to be different, and part of that uniqueness is giving a child a bizarre name. It’s okay for kids of celebrities because they live a celebrity lifestyle. However, for an ordinary child from an ordinary family in an ordinary town, a name like these celebrities kids’ names could cause distress, emotional pain and scarring.

According to published reports, a family court judge in New Zealand has had enough with parents giving their children bizarre names, and decided to do something about it. Imagine naming your child, Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii. The judge had her renamed. Judge Rob Murfitt made the 9-year-old girl a ward of the court so that her name could be changed, he said in a ruling made public on July 24, 2008. The child was involved in a custody battle, and her new name was not made public, to protect her privacy, he said. The judge said the name “makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily.” The child had been so embarrassed at the name that she had never told her closest friends what it was. She told people to call her “K” instead, the child’s attorney, Colleen MacLeod, told the court. Bizarre names have been blocked by officials, including Fish and Chips, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit, he said.

Jersey Shore vs The Hamptons

Susan Boyle sings for the Pope!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there’s a good chance you’ve already heard of the jaw-dropping performance of internet sensation Susan Boyle. Trust me, you can’t judge a book by its cover. The performance of then 48-year-old, cheeky-looking, woman auditioning for “Britain’s Got Talent” will leave anyone speechless and amazed. I know I was. The church volunteer from Scotland has taken the world by storm, with her unique and humble ways. Her performance on the TV show was brilliant, and the YouTube videos of her performance have received more than 30 million hits hence leading to worldwide publicity. Ms. Boyle, who says in the video that she’s never been married, never been kissed and lives with her cat Pebbles, went on stage to skeptical looks from the shocked audience and judges. When she sang “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables” the audience went wild and even charmed “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell. She was known by locals as the woman who lived alone with her cat and occasionally sang at the pub’s karaoke night. Her sudden popularity has everyone watching, especially anyone trying to get into the music industry over 30 years old. You know it's hard.

This is huge, since it’s not every day you see an ordinary woman become an overnight sensation. It captures the power of the people, and those that support the art of a beautiful voice, looking beyond beauty. This incredible singer is truly an inspiration to many, who never get the so called “showbiz break.” Susan’s local paper, the West Lothian Courier, has even likened her impact in America to that of the Beatles four decades ago.

Simon Cowell would be pleased if her success mirrored the 2007 winner Paul Potts. His goose-bumps-performance has now made him a multi-million-dollar record deal with talks under way of making a Hollywood movie based on his life. You may remember him as the former Carphone Warehouse employee from Wales.  Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore have been credited with helping Britain’s Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle achieve global internet fame. Now Miss Boyle is going to sing for the Pope.

Summer of 2010!

Summer just flew by didn’t it? Somehow, you meant to take that European vacation; however, it just didn’t happen. Now, Labor Day is soon upon us. A day for picnics and backyard barbeques, and a time to celebrate America’s everyday heroes-the working people. It’s back to school time, the hunt for the school supply list is over. Just around the corner, is the beautiful fall foliage. As the summer sun fades to a gentle glow, and the holding of hands by the campfire comes to an end. The summer of 2010, will be remembered for what? Go ahead knock yourself out, and leave your comments.

Let us know what the "Summer of 2010" will be remembered for?

Now hear this!

If you were annoyed with people always saying Ciao! Or people playing loud, obnoxious music in their car- from their boom, boom car stereos, not everyone wants to hear their music. Admit it: You didn’t think it would possible. Yes, there is something more annoying than all of the above, and it’s cell phone users who chat in public. These people are so annoying, they walk in a zombie-like stupor, chatting away about nothing interesting. How do we know this? We hear the conservation, and we hear the responses. Quite frankly, people are ready to keel over from extreme boredom. Of course, the people who chat on cell phones with interesting conversations (hot stock tips, or when the job market will open up) invariably whisper, or walk away for privacy. There could be one possible explanation for this behavior: they want to be noticed and heard.

Are the lonely, seeking attention, or do they just want to annoy the heck out of you?

Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, what next?

Plenty of ordinary people are fleeing Facebook because of the many concerns about eroding privacy on the beloved social networking site that is known by many simply as FB. Facebook has an estimated 400 million users, and when it went public in 2005, default privacy settings kept personal information out of the hands of people who were not users, in other words known as “friends,” on the website.

Recently, the default settings have turned the other way, putting more users’ information out there for the whole world to see. From what I understand, there is a concern that personal information will land in the wrong hands. Contact and interest data on Facebook profiles is being shared with partner sites such as Pandora, Microsoft, and more. It was later announced that the website had a new feature to ramp up security. So if you want to protect yourself on Facebook click Privacy Settings and make sure you adjust your privacy settings next to all 12 categories on the page. So with all this in mind, everyone is trying to get famous these days, they turn to Facebook and YouTube to promote themselves, regardless of privacy issues.

It's quiet disturbing the lengths that people will go to promote themselves. Is all that information necessary? I'm going to take a shower now, taking pictures of their dinner, going to work now, going to sleep now, showing off with basketball players, baseball players, you get the jist. Now, we even have a revamped MySpace back. Poor Myspace,  is trying to keep up with the times, however, this month, the site had less than 50 milllion visitors.

In today’s society computers have become an absolute necessity, from online banking to shopping, paying bills, online chatting, and web-surfing. Just about everything can be researched on the computer. The possibilities are simply endless! Unless you’ve just arrived from a long vacation from Mars, you’ve heard about the search engine “Google.” Curiosity seekers have used the term "I’ve googled him (or her).” Unless you don’t exist or are an underachiever, you probably won’t find a match.

Jonas Brothers play Softball

The Jonas Brothers are on a mission with “X the TXT” joining forces with the insurance company Allstate. According to Allstate, people who text while driving are more likely to crash. If the bill is passed the STANDUP act creates uniform GDL standards across all 50 states. Besides touring the country with their music, the Jo.Bros. are also traveling with the “Road Dogs” softball tour to raise teen awareness about the dangers of texting and driving. They asked teens and their families at the Riverfront Stadium in Newark, New Jersey on August 23 to take a pledge by adding their thumbprint to a huge banner. After adding their thumbprints, fans had their pictures taken and added to the Jonas Brothers Facebook page. Fans were also given thumb band rings as a reminder of their commitment which reads “TXTNG KLLS.” While, the “Road Dogs” lost 19-10 , the fans still enjoyed watching the brothers play softball in the rain. The bonus Jonas, Frankie was the bat boy. For more information go to www.saferoads4teens.org .

Weekend at the Hamptons!

It was an epic weekend. The Divas were invited to a party in the Hamptons on August 21, at a private residence in East Hampton. The divas went shopping  at Tiffany's, Coach, Dylan's Candy Bar, Juicy Couture.  Incredible. The night ended with fireworks at Westhampton Beach. Wow! The same day Howard Stern and his other half , Mrs. Beth Ostrosky Stern hosted the benefit for"Wildlife Rescue Center" in the Hamptons.

Getting to the Hamptons was another story. It took us over 4 hours, the traffic was bumper to bumper after the Verrazano Bridge. After making a pit stop, we were on our way again. The Hamptons are really hopping on the Weekend, and no one really prepared us for all the traffic in Bridgehampton and SouthHampton.

Finally we arrive at the party, one hour and half late. Fashionably late, you think! We then ventured  out to breathtaking Sag Harbor, for more shopping and just hanging out. Next time we will need about two weeks.

Do you Tweet?

If you are already on Twitter, you are part of the latest trend. The popular microblog is difficult to comprehend, yet simple to master. It’s all about communicating with family, friends and co-workers by sending quick messages in 140 characters or less. Some people may feel reluctant to sign up for an account in the Twitter universe due to stalkers, especially if you’re a part of the entertainment industry. We all know how uncomfortable it feels when people begin acting creepy; you should be extremely careful. Then, of course, you have the Twitter-fearing friends that just don’t get it.

Twitter was co-founded by Evan Williams, now the company’s chief executive, and Biz Stone. Mr. Evan Williams has struck gold once again, with the company valued at $1 billion, according to a report in Techcrunch. It was Evan Williams who developed the prototype for blogging back in the late ‘90s, which became known as Blogger.com. It was sold to Google in 2004.

Unlike Facebook, that is valued at $500 million and has paid ads, Twitter is a mystery to many how it survives without ads. The key to the success of Twitter, besides having the world’s most powerful people signed on as Twitter users, is the fact that the site is the preferred vehicle of communications. As Twitter continues to bring on more users, estimated at over 45 million as of three months ago, the site will attract more revenue opportunities.

You will see messages from pop stars to Average Joes venting out their frustrations. Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Pamela Anderson, Joel Madden, Kirstie Alley, Jamie Foxx, Thalia, Ricky Martin and Larry King are just a few of the stars on Twitter. You might even be lucky enough to have followers.

Now here is a good one, if Lady Gaga was to join the Goo Goo Dolls, she would be known as Goo Goo Gaga. Funny!

Freaky Friday!

Their tans haven’t quite faded, the temperatures are still hot, but it’s time to trade in their bathing suits and surf boards for North Face backpacks, textbooks and No.2 pencils. If you’re among the many parents that clocked some serious back-to-school shopping miles, you know that the troubled economy has made allowances on wallets that are skinnier than the jeans. Economy is getting so bad that many people are dipping into their 401K, or taking out all the funds as a hardship case.

Well, it's Friday, TGIF, let's keep it drama-free. Lot's of sales going on tomorrow at Macy's, for those that could afford the bargains.Beautiful weekend coming up, so let's enjoy! Don't forget to pick up your Mega-millions lottery ticket. Who knows, you might just win!

Concerns on Facebook!

No need to flee Facebook, just check out the privacy settings.

Moving Forward!

It’s really shocking when you learn that you’ve been cheated on. It is quite devastating; it feels like you have been kicked in the gut and tossed into a gutter. You stay up all night watching romantic movies, crying and your boyfriends become Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. You start asking yourself the same question over and over, “Once a cheater, always a cheater?" Of course, when you’re a celebrity, it hurts so much more. The whole world knows your private business. However, there are celebrities that learn and grow from the painful emotional hurricane and the loss of closeness in relationship that are the aftermaths of cheating. It also helps when a celebrity has the support of an army of fans. Jesse who? Spike TV says Sandra Bullock made a surprise appearance at its “Guys Choice” event in Culver City, Calif.

It looks like Sandra is moving forward. Spike says Sandra Bullock received a standing ovation from the audience at Sony Pictures Studios on June 5, when she accepted the “Troops Choice” Award for Entertainer of the Year. The award was voted by members of the military. The 45-year-old actress has kept a very low profile since her public split from husband Jesse James after she won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in “The Blind Side” earlier this year. Spike’s “Guys Choice” aired on June 20.

Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson made everyone forget about Bullock’s personal woes on June 6, when they shared a kiss onstage at the MTV Movie Awards. It was her second public appearance since she and the world discovered that her hubby Jesse James had been cheating on her. Betty White and Bradley Cooper, Bullock’s co-stars from “All About Steve,” presented Bullock with her MTV Generation Award; Johansson joined them onstage and angled for a kiss. After a quick smooch, Sandra said, “Now that we have done that, can we please go back to normal?” Now we hear that Sandra's ex, has the hots for Kat,yes the Tattoo queen.

Speaking of normal, imagine Lady Gaga going from “Fame Monster” to space monster-if “Doctor Who” scriptwriter Gareth Roberts has his way. The pop star who has a passion for wearing unique far-out costumes makes her a shoo-in to guest star on the long-running cult British science fiction series. From what I heard, Gaga hasn’t signed on the dotted line. Singer Kylie Minogue previously guest starred on the 2007 Christmas special episode, “Voyage of the Damned,” playing the Doctor’s companion. The role was specifically written for her.

Comedy Camp!

Forget medical school. If you want your kids to support you in your old age, send your kids to comedy camp. According to Time Warner, which owns the series “Seinfeld” the show has made an incredible $2.7 billion, since it went off the air 12 years ago. TV studios hardly ever reveal the amounts made by their most successful TV series, but at an investors’ conference late last month, execs spilled the beans about how the show was such a moneymaker. The amazing figure was revealed by Barry Meyer, chairman of Warner Brothers Entertainment, which has the rights to the Seinfeld series. The details of the report were carried by the trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter. The numbers indicate that reruns on regular TV have grossed $2.3 billion since 1998. Revenues from cable were about $380 million, reported execs.

Get this, “Seinfeld” which made 180 episodes during its nine-year run, means that each half-hour episode has earned more than $14 million so far. The numbers don’t include what the show or its stars made on the original run of the show on NBC. Forbes magazine has been estimating for years that Jerry makes between $65-80 million a year from reruns of the show. Creators Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David have made hundreds of millions of dollars from syndication.

“Seinfeld” was well-acted, well-written, and people related to the characters, which in other words, was plain funny. Comedy shows if they are well-written can last forever, just like the old-time favorite “I Love Lucy.” The show still makes us laugh today, it’s funny. Women watch more prime time TV than men, women watch everything, and men watch sports. Hopefully someday the TV execs will realize that, and will stop catering to the 18- to-34-year old males.

Summer Movies and more!

There is something about summer that warms the heart. Whatever the cause, it looks like Hollywood celebrities decided to tie the knot this summer. Let's hope they don't decide to divorce in the winter. It seems that the sudden news of Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr's secret wedding made us realize that this summer has been a plethora of celebrity nuptials. Here come the brides: Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher tied the knot on July 10. While in Italy, on the same day John Krasinski and Emily Blunt married, reportedly George Clooney was in attendance. Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem, who along with Lladro, are Spain’s hottest exports, tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in the Bahamas earlier this month.Cruz,36, met Bardem,41, around 2007, when they starred again as lovers in Woody Allen’s “Vicky Christina Barcelona,” but kept the relationship private.

Meanwhile, George Clooney hasn’t tied the knot yet, however will be recognized for his humanitarian efforts at the Emmy Awards. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences will present the 49-year-old actor with its Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the ceremony next month. Clooney is also being honored for his”Hope for Haiti” TV special, which is nominated for an Emmy award next month. Clooney is the fourth recipient of the honor and will be presented the award at the Emmy ceremony on August 29.

Summer is also the time when Hollywood brings out the big guns .It’s the time when movie buffs get that warm fuzzy feeling inside, like melted butter dripping on top of freshly machine popped popcorn. This summer is no different than last year, we have our usual sequels, remakes, comic book adaptations, and the big hit of all time 3-D. Just when we had completely forgotten about the circle of trust. “Little Fockers” will come to a theater near you on July 30. Ben Stiller (Greg Focker) and Teri Polo (Pamela Byrnes-Focker are expecting a baby. On August 6, “The Other Guys” an action comedy with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. An interesting pair to team up. Hopefully, reteaming with director Adam McKay should help.

Blockbusters can always look after themselves, but other more serious films count on critics. Most likely, “Little Fockers” will be a hit, because Ben Stiller is hilarious. Everyone knows that good reviews build the box-office for every film, especially the smaller pictures, and the waning number of critics has meant waning profits. Sometimes being true to your opinions but also putting things in perspective and in context, may not appeal to every movie-goer.They will also wonder why you raved about it, when they thought it was disastrous. Now from the point of view of the movie studios, there’s another problem, a uniformity of opinions which could mean a uniformity of pans. So do reviews matter? Let me put it to you this way, the entertainment section which features reviews is the second-most read section of a newspaper, after sports. So the next time, you read a review, which is a part of journalism, and it says, “You’ve got to see this.” Go!

Hanging out with the Jonas Brothers!

Back to School!

As most moms know, it’s almost school time again! Most of you are probably feeling excited and maybe a bit sad that summer is almost over. Some kids feel nervous or a little scared on the first day of school because of all the new things going on, such as new teachers, new friends or perhaps even a new school. One thing is for sure, these days, school supplies are always an expense at the beginning of each school year. For families with more than one child in school, it can be heavy on the budget. The average family could spend as much as over six hundred dollars on back-to-school supplies. Granted, if your child goes to private school, then don’t forget to tack on a few hundred dollars to that bill for textbooks.

With that said, around the nation, groups are working hard to help needy kids get school supplies and are seeing a significant rise in the number of kids that need help. With so many celebrities on social networks, you would think that someone would reach out.

Elvis is still Alive!

Springsteen might be the boss; however Elvis was the King of Rock & Roll. August 16 marked the 33rd anniversary of Elvis Presley’s death, who died on Aug 16, 1977. Around the nation, tribute artists came out to entertain. Elvis Week is held every year in Memphis, Tennessee, ending with a candlelight vigil from the gates of the Graceland property up the driveway to Elvis’ gravesite and back down. The vigil typically lasts until the early morning hours of August 16.Elvis is still alive! Well, not really, but in spirit he is.

Now according to the Associated Press, Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Riley Keough is set to star in the next Mad Max movie. Keough will play one of the Five Wives, a group of women Max has to save, the Associated Press reports. Oh, and his grandson is the spitting image of him too.

Should be interesting to see!

Hanging out with the Jonas Brothers!!

Hey everyone, on August 14th, the Jonas Brothers which consist of Joe,Nick and Kevin performed at Hershey Park,in Pennsylvania. While the Hershey Park Stadium holds a capacity of 30,000 people it was almost full. Fans were waiting on them by the side entrance, hoping to see them while they did their soundcheck. While many fans decided to take a complimentary tour of Chocolate World, an inspirational tour of a man (Milton Hershey) who created a multi-billion empire with a dream. The concert was filled with tweens, teeny-boppers and their parents. The opening acts were the cast members of Camp Rock 2, which the DVD comes out Sept. 3.

After 45 minutes, Demi Lovato steps out on stage to perform some of her hits from her first album titled "Don't Forget." The JoBros finally came out around 9pm,  with Joe and Demi performing a duet" This Is Me." Awkward at first, since Papa Jonas  had to break-up the relationship. Remaining friends, they seemed happy together. Demi looked great, she changed outfits a few times, however the purple shiny dress was the most attractive.

The concert was really special since Joe Jonas was celebrating his 21st birthday the very next day. His sister-in-law Danielle presented him with a birthday cake on stage. The fans were delighted to sing "Happy Birthday" to Joe.The concert was a hit for all ages, including the older Moms who joined in and danced to the Beatles song "Drive My Car" dedicated to the parents.

The concert was over at 10:15pm, and we saw girls running out of the stadium, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Jonas brothers leaving in their tour bus. The JoBros ran to the tour bus where it took them less than 2 minutes to jump on the bus and leave with the police escort. Sorry girls, maybe next time.

If you want to see some great pictures of them, let us know. We were that close that you can actually see the sweat on their faces..LOL

What's Happening?!?

Welcome back to the heat wave! The weather continues to be warm and humid, which has drained the life right out of us. So I will make this short so that I can cool down and avoid a heat stroke. Hopefully the weather will be a little bit better on the weekend since we have several events to attend. Even though it's warm, we managed the other day to upload some videos. Speaking of which, ever since our "It'Sugar" video went out to the masses, a" Pop Tarts Store" opens up in New York. It's kind of interesting, it has different flavors of pop-tarts that you can choose from based on your exquisite taste buds.

When we visit North Carolina again, we will have to stop at the Hinnant Family Vineyards.... a tradition in the making for over 30 years. We just didn't have the time to visit since we were coming home from Myrtle Beach.

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over and there is 4 months left for Christmas! If you are ever in South Hill, Virginia on a Saturday night from 7-9 pm to be exact, you should check out Wally the Wacky Waiter! He does comedy, magic, balloon sculptors, all that service that will make you smile at Applebee's.

Well, did everyone hear about the flight attendant who flipped out? The problem is that according to published reports,  his father had recently died, and his mother is dying of lung cancer so he really had a lot on his plate. Granted, what he did was a little drastic, but considering everything he is going through they should reconsider. Despite his recent fame, Stephen Slater of Jet Blue Airlines,  is being called a hero to some. He even has several fan pages on Facebook. So let's join!!

A day of R&R!

Well, today was a day of rest and relaxation. We spent the day uploading videos, unpacking, and facing reality. The reality is that we are sitting here tonight brainstorming our business plans. In this bad economy we are actually venturing out. More details to follow....

I am not sure if we are allowed to film in court, however, we have to translate for someone who received a summons for traffic violations. That should be interesting... It said that the person in question, (who was quite feisty) didn't respect the officer when reprimanded. That would have been a really funny video.

In the meantime, we are tired of uploading videos, so we are going to call it a night.

What a surprise!

Just arrived from Myrtle Beach!

This is our first blog, and I hope you enjoy reading this!

It was simply amazing. I was wearing one of my t-shirts titled, "Actions speak louder than blogs." I could not have received any more glares or compliments. Myrtle Beach was very serene and peaceful. The two bedroom, two bath, condo exceeded my expectations once again. It took us about a day and a half to arrive at Myrtle Beach. The traffic in Manassas, Virginia was bumper-to-bumper, and stretched miles long.  We made a stop in Stafford, Virginia in a supermarket to pick up some salad and other essentials after 4 hours of sitting in traffic. We finally decided to call it a night in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Of course it is always a plus when you can redeem points for loyalty at the Hilton Family Hotels.

Dinner at Ryan's Buffet can feed a family of four for under $50 for those families on a strict budget. The next day we were off on the road again with a couple of rest area stops, we arrived at our condo at around 4 pm, check- in time. The rooms were not ready for us, so we went to Super Wal-Mart and purchased a few more items for a quiet first evening dinner. We gazed into the night sitting in our patio overlooking lake Arrowhead and admiring the sunset.

Myrtle Beach is not only a golfers paradise, but also a beach lovers' dream. The water temperature in August is about 85 degrees daily. Even if it rains for a brief period the sun always seems to shine minutes later, and no one panics and leaves the beach.

The Southern hospitality of Myrtle Beach is outstanding and overwhelming. I only wish New-Yorkers could catch on and follow their footsteps. The week in our condo was simply amazing. It had everything we needed, comparable to our home. Unlike a hotel, where you can just sleep and watch television, having a condo includes the many varieties and amenities available to you at home.

One of the many highlights of the trip, was picking our own 25 pound juicy watermelon as well as South Carolina peaches. Followed by "Broadway at the Beach," where the fireworks were breathtaking. The short but elaborate fireworks display left us speechless. After the fireworks, we wandered off on the boardwalk were we encountered not only a funny magician, but also a sweet-tooth lovers' paradise store called "It's Sugar." Every type of candy you can possibly imagine was easily accessible and every color of M&M's were stacked in tubes from waist-level to the ceiling.

For crafty people like us, who enjoy making our own jewelry, seashells were bountiful in all shapes and colors. Snails, mussels, and a school of fish were seen in the clear ocean waters. Its no wonder people from Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida flocked to the Grand Strand. The oil spills were definitely not in Myrtle Beach.  We swam in the pristine crystal-clear water.

It was sad to leave but we had to return back home. On the return, we stopped in Baltimore, Maryland which was beautiful. We highly recommend it. At a tourist stop area, a very knowledgeable man gave us sightseeing information on what to do in Baltimore. On of the main attractions was at the Inner Harbor. The world trade center, the national aquarium, port discovery, children's museum, historic ships in Baltimore, including the Chesapeake, USS Constellation, and many more. We were very fortunate that we found a two-hour parking meter by Gay Street, on a Friday night, considering they had the baseball game nearby at the stadium. For those of you not that fortunate, they do have parking garages on Gay Street for about $6-$10 to par your vehicle. Seafood restaurants were just about on every corner. If you have time, you can take a ride on the water taxi, or the kids would love the dragon boats. We managed to get a quick glimpse of everything. We topped off our evening with a stop at the Cheesecake Factory. They also have plenty of shopping. As divas, we had to make a few pit stops at the shopping centre in the Harbor around the Broadway pier.

Driving back home, from Maryland be prepared to pay about $20 in tolls one way. What a shame. They charged $5 for a two- axle vehicle exiting Maryland, and $4 entering Delaware. In addition, $6 was for entering New Jersey. How many times do we pay for the roads. Unlike the North or South Carolina roads where you do not pay any tolls.

Now it is time to unpack, and we will continue with our next blog soon. We will keep you updated on traveling, celebrities, and anything else we think is pertinent to update all of you on!
